Why choose between watching the starry night sky and a good film? Hamburg’s ample public parks, squares and open spaces provide the perfect opportunity to enjoy movie nights in the great urban outdoors. As soon as the weather allows, film screens pop up all over the city at locations like Schanzenpark, Altonaer Rathaus and even the Inner Alster Lake. From one-time events and film festivals to full programmes throughout the summer, we’ve selected some of our favourite outdoor cinemas in Hamburg. Grab your friends, a cold beer, a picnic blanket and enjoy the show!
Note: Original language screenings (with German subtitles) are marked as OmU in cinema programmes. Most outdoor cinemas show a mix of dubbed and undubbed films, so be sure to check programmes. For more information on language options, see Going to the Cinema.
