Unilever House in Hamburg, Germany

Unilever-Haus Hamburg

As the headquarters of the world’s largest producer of consumer goods, Unilever’s old offices in a highrise building on Dammtorwall simply weren’t cutting it anymore. Since 2009, the company has made its home in HafenCity. Unilever-Haus houses 1,100 employees, as well as the flagship store of the personal care brand Dove. Nearby, visitors will also find the Marco-Polo-Tower, the Traditionsschiffhafen (lit. 'traditional ship harbour'), the Störtebeker monument and the Elbphilharmonie.

Designed by a team from Stuttgart, the futuristic Unilever-Haus is a model of sustainable architecture, and has received several awards, including the ‘World Architecture Festival Award 2009’. The inviting, freely accessible atrium features, among other things, a company shop, an ice cream parlour (much sought after by HafenCity visitors during the summer months), and a stunning view of the Elbe and the Hamburg port. The Unilever-Haus also boasts a conference centre, the Elbkantine dining hall and an event kitchen, all of which can be rented.
