The Hamburg Welcome Center invites you to a presentation on learning German, working and driving licence.

Getting started in Hamburg

If you come to Hamburg from abroad, many things are new and unknown. We give you some information on how to learn German, find a job, working and obtain a driving licence. You will get answers on the following questions:

  • What possibilities are there to learn German? How can I prove my language skills?
  • Am I allowed to work here? Who can I contact to find a job? What are my rights and obligations as an employee?
  • Am I allowed to drive a car here? Do I need a German driving licence?

When? 5 pm on 28 February 2019. Duration is one hour. Participants can get in touch after the event.

Where? Chamber of Commerce (Handelskammer Hamburg), Adolphsplatz 1 in the room: “Alsterzimmer”.

Please walk through the main entrance, turn left and go up the stairs to the first floor. Turn right and follow the hallway till the end. You will find the room on the right side.

Public transportation: Please check http://www.hvv.de/en/index.php and type in the address.

Registration: Attending is free of charge. Please sign up until 26 February, 2019. Simply send an email to newcomers@welcome.hamburg.de if you wish to attend the event. The group size is limited - you will receive a written confirmation.

The following data is collected: name, first name and email address. Credentials of participants of the past events will be deleted after 5 years.
