Bucerius Kunst Forum – See one of the leading art collections right in Hamburg's centre

Funded by the ZEIT foundation and named after Ebelin and Gerd Bucerius, the Bucerius Kunst Forum is known for all kinds of fine arts. The gallery has come to stand out for its unique exhibition concepts as well as its interdisciplinary events.

From the classics to contemporary art

The diverse exhibitions at Bucerius Kunst Forum focus on new aspects of art from the classics to contemporary pieces, keeping an eye on the current relevance of the exhibits. The result is an exciting combination of monographic studies focussing on a single artist and exhibitions concentrating on a specific theme or period.

As of now, works of art by many internationally acclaimed artists have been on display, such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, David Hockney, Andy Warhol, Alberto Giacometti, Gerhard Richter, Paula Modersohn-Becker, Marc Chagall, Frida Kahlo, Piet Mondrian, Lucas Cranach, William Turner, and many more.

The more thematic exhibitions are dedicated, for example, to French painting, New York photography, Pompeian mural painting, Venice as the city of the arts, 1920s art scenes, or the element of water in painting and photography.

Guided tours and events

With its built-in event location, the gallery boasts a diverse event programme: live music, lectures, readings and panels shed light on the topic of each individual exhibition with an eye on the respective art forms.

Beside conventional guided tours, the Bucerius Kunst Forum also provides exciting classes for children, young adults and families to ensure age-appropriate and hands-on approaches to the exhibition themes.
