Zukunftstaxi Funding

Up to €10,000 of funding is available for a total of 130 emissions-free vehicles.

Zukunftstaxi Hamburg - Funding

In addition to the vehicle funding from the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (Bundesamt für Wirtschaft und Ausfuhrkontrolle or BAFA), the Zukunftstaxi project compensates for additional expenses present when operating electric vehicles, e.g. the search for free charging stations or the time-consuming charging process. Taxi companies and drivers should be financially supported here.

Our Support

  • In a first stage: we support companies that locally license emission-free vehicles by 31 December, 2021 with up to €10,000 over a period of two years.
  • Funding is available for 130 of these vehicles. €1,000 will be transferred every three months for two years from the time the license is granted. After the first and the second year, a further €1,000 can be paid out to one-taxi entrepreneurs if they can prove that they have driven at least 15,000 kilometres with passengers per year. The multi-taxi operator must provide evidence of 20,000 passenger kilometres per year.

For example

If you have your vehicle licensed by us on 1 October, 2021, you will then be transferred €1,000 every three months for two years: starting at the beginning of October 2021, then at the beginning of January, April, July and October of the year 2022 and then at the beginning of January, April and July 2023. A total of 8 x €1,000. After the first year of operation at the beginning of October 2022 and after the second year at the beginning of October 2023, we will pay an additional €1,000 if you can provide evidence of sufficient number of passenger kilometres.

Note

As of April 2021, applications can be submitted via e-mail to zukunftstaxi@bvm.hamburg.de using the application form provided for this purpose. Applications will be considered in the order in which they are received. As of October 2021, the second stage of the project begins with a further 170 emission-free vehicles that can be subsidised locally. The funding here is up to €6,000 per vehicle over a period of one year. From the time the vehicle is licensed, which is possible until June 30, 2022, €1,000 will be paid out every three months during this period.

More details can be found here (in German).

Funding is available for 170 vehicles. €1,000 will be transferred every three months for a year after the license is granted. After a year, another €1,000 can be paid out. For this, a single-taxi entrepreneur must prove at least 15,000 passenger-occupied kilometres and multi-taxi operators 20,000 passengers kilometres. Applications for this second stage of the project can be submitted by email starting 1 October, 2021; they will be considered in the order in which they are received. There is no limit to the number of grants based on company size at this stage.

Funding

In addition, 20 emission-free or at least low-emission vehicles that are proven to be suitable for transporting people sitting in their wheelchairs (wheelchair-accessible e-taxis) are locally funded with up to €20,000.

Due to the even lower availability of suitable vehicles, externally chargeable hybrid electric vehicles that emit a maximum of 25g CO₂/km and have a purely electrical minimum range of at least 100km are also accepted. During the course of daily operations, there is a greater effort in taxi business, especially because of the longer journeys and securing of wheelchair users. The Zukunftstaxi project would like to compensate for this with special funding.

Support

During the first stage: companies that have local emissions-free or low-emission vehicles suitable for wheelchair transport licensed by 31 December, 2021 with up to €20,000 over a period of two years.

Funding is available for 20 of these vehicles. €2,000 will be transferred every three months for two years from the time the license is granted. After the first and the second year, a further €2,000 can be paid out to single-taxi entrepreneurs who can prove that they have reached at least 15,000 passenger-occupied kilometres per year. Multi-taxi operators must provide evidence of 20,000 passenger-occupied kilometers per year.

Note

These applications can also be submitted by email as of April 2021. They will be considered in the order received.

Also important: vehicles that are not emissions-free must be driven exclusively emissions-free within Ring 1 without using the internal combustion engine and technically ensure this with the help of geofencing.

With the second stage beginning 1 October, 2021, a further 30 emissions-free or at least low-emission vehicles can be subsidised. The funding here is up to €10,000 per vehicle over a period of one year. From the time the vehicle is licensed (possible until 30 June, 2022), €2,000 will be paid out every three months during this period.

After one year, the last €2,000 can be paid out after proof of the number of passenger-occupied kilometers driven.

These applications can also be submitted via email starting 1 October, 2021; they will be considered in the order received; there is no limit to the number of grants based on company size.

What else is important?

Companies that have received a funding notification must prove within six weeks that a suitable vehicle has been ordered. Otherwise the funding approval will expire and other companies will move up.
