Treatment of animal carcasses and animal by-products
If you as a company want to treat animal by-products after their collection (sorting, cutting, cooling, freezing, salting, removing skins, fur or specific risk material), you must be authorized for this activity by the competent authority.

Your company is registered as a business in the area of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
Further requirements may arise depending on the type of activity and must be checked on a case-by-case basis.

Procedure & Fees
Procedure
- Submit an application for authorization to treat animal carcasses and animal by-products with all necessary documents to the responsible body.
- The responsible office will examine your application and your documents. If necessary, the responsible authority may request further documents or information from you.
- The responsible authority will decide on your application.
- You will receive a notice and an invoice for fees.
- You pay the fee bill.
- You may begin treating the animal carcasses or animal by-products in accordance with the notice.
