Apply for a permit to operate or make a significant change in the operation of a stray emitter.
You need a permit if you operate a stray radiation source or if there is a significant change in the operation of a stray radiation source. Exceptions are stray radiation sources according to Annex 3 Part D of the Radiation Protection Ordinance.

Prerequisites
- You can only apply for a license if you are responsible for radiation protection according to § 69 StrlSchG.
- A permit can be granted if you meet the permit requirements according to Section 13 of the Radiation Protection Act. Appendix 2 Part D of the Radiation Protection Act specifies which documents must be enclosed with your application.

Procedure & Fees
Procedure
- You fill out the relevant application form in full and send it to the Office for Occupational Safety and Health - Department for Radiation Protection, including all the necessary documents.
- If the documents or information for processing are incomplete, you will be contacted by the administration.
- If the requirements for approval are met or not met, you will receive an approval or rejection notice.
- The approval will be sent to you by email or by post.
- The notice of fees will usually be sent to you later.
- Once the permit has been obtained, you may use the stray radiation source

Fees
The granting or refusal of approval is subject to a fee. The fees are calculated according to the time spent in accordance with § 2 of the fee schedule.

Legal remedies
Objections to the decision can be lodged with the competent authority/department within one month of notification. The unsuccessful objection procedure is subject to a fee.
