Prerequisites

• There are no facts giving rise to doubts as to their reliability.
• Existence of the required specialist knowledge in radiation protection, in the case of doctors license to practice medicine.

• Proof of current expertise in radiation protection
• If applicable, proof of activities within the scope of further permits with this or other operators, stating the operator and to what extent.
• For doctors, proof of license to practice medicine

Procedure

• You fill out the relevant form completely and send it to the Office for Occupational Safety and Health - Department for Radiation Protection, including the documents listed in the application.
• Send a copy of your message to your works or staff council.
• The authorities will check your information and the requirements.
• If the required documents are incomplete, you will be contacted by the administration.

Processing time

Usually 2 to 4 weeks.

§ 70 paragraph 4 Radiation Protection Act (StrlSchG)

As the person responsible for radiation protection, you inform the authorities who you have appointed as radiation protection officer.
In the message regarding the appointment, you state the following with regard to the radiation protection officer:

• area of responsibility
• internal decision-making area and
• the powers required to perform the task.

You should also inform the authority of any change in the tasks or powers of a radiation protection officer or if you are leaving.
