Apply for the operation of an X-ray calibration facility or a significant change in the operation of an existing X-ray facility
If you want to operate an X-ray device without a type approval or without a CE mark in your company or business, you need a permit for this.

Prerequisites
You can only apply for a license if you are responsible for radiation protection according to § 69 StrlSchG.
A permit can be granted if the permit requirements according to Section 13 of the Radiation Protection Act are met.
For medical X-ray facilities, the approval requirements of Section 14 of the Radiation Protection Act must also be taken into account. Annex 2 Part C of the Radiation Protection Act specifies which documents must be enclosed with your application.

Procedure
- You fill out the relevant application form completely and send it to the Office for Occupational Safety and Health - Department for Radiation Protection, including the documents listed in the application.
- If the documents or information required for processing are incomplete, you will be contacted by the administrative department.
- If the requirements for approval are met or not met, you will receive an approval or rejection notice.
- The approval will be sent to you by email or by post.
- The notice of fees will usually be sent to you later.
- Once the permit has been obtained, you may use the X-ray facility.

Fees
The granting or refusal of approval is subject to a fee. The fees are calculated according to the time spent in accordance with § 2 of the fee schedule.

Objections to the decision can be lodged with the competent authority/department within one month of notification.
The unsuccessful objection procedure is subject to a fee.

The operation of X-ray equipment is prohibited without a permit. You can apply for approval from the competent authority - in Hamburg at the Office for Occupational Safety and Health.
The authority where the company has its registered office is always responsible for the approval. A permit is not required if you operate X-ray equipment that has a type approval and/or CE mark.
