Apply for an operating license for a branch pharmacy
In the event of an emergency in the supply of medicines, an operating license for a branch pharmacy can be granted upon application.

- Declaration of full legal capacity
- Possession of the German license to practice as a pharmacist

- Notification of whether and, if so, at which location you operate one or more pharmacies in a member state of the European Union or in another state party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or in a state party to which Germany and the European Union have contractually granted a corresponding legal right

Deadlines
The application should be submitted at least 2 months before the planned opening of the pharmacy and be complete 2 weeks before the opening date.

An operating permit will be granted to you upon application after
- the competent authority establishes that there is an emergency in the supply of medicinal products as a result of the lack of a pharmacy.
- If the legal requirements are met, the operating license will be issued upon application.
- An acceptance inspection of the operating rooms must be carried out by the competent authority before the start of operation.

Service description
If there is an emergency in the supply of medicines because there are no pharmacies to supply the population, you as the owner can apply to a nearby pharmacy for permission to operate a branch pharmacy. Branch pharmacies have lower spatial requirements than normal, public pharmacies, which are also regulated by law.
Branch pharmacies must be managed, the administrator requires approval from the competent authority.
You will not be granted permission for more than one branch pharmacy.
Permission is granted to you for 5 years, it can be granted again.
