Service description
The EU Organic Regulation (834/2007) applies to the following agricultural products, including aquaculture, provided they are placed on the market or are intended to be placed on the market:
a) live or unprocessed agricultural products,
b) processed agricultural products for use as food,
c) feed,
d) vegetative propagation material and seeds for cultivation.
The products of hunting and fishing for wild animals are not considered to have come from organic production. This regulation also applies to yeasts used as food or feed.
This does not include, for example, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, textiles and building materials.
Accredited private control bodies for organic farming monitor and check compliance with the EU organic regulation directly on site at farms and companies after the conclusion of control contracts.
The competent authorities in the federal state in which the respective company is based are responsible for monitoring the eco-inspection bodies and interpreting the legal provisions.
