Please check in advance whether your ID document is ready to be picked up (see link "Checking the processing status of your ID card or passport").
You can pick up your new passport from the responsible Hamburg Service:
- To collect your passport, go to the Hamburg Service where you applied for the passport. Please book an appointment for this.
- You will be given a new passport if you present your old passport. If you want to keep the old passport as a souvenir, the document can be returned to you validated.
- If you have lost your old passport in the meantime, fill out a notification of loss.
- Finally, confirm receipt of the new passport with your signature.

Service description
You can collect your passport in person or through an authorized person. The collection can only take place in the Hamburg service where the application was made.
If a person is commissioned to collect, they must identify themselves and present written authorization for collection. You can find a sample collection authorization as a link under the additional information.

If you would like to apply for an identity card, passport or children's passport, you can use an existing self-recording terminal (speed capture terminal) in the customer center to capture the necessary biometric data (digital photo, signature, fingerprints).
Please allow a few minutes more time before your appointment to collect your data.
Note: You will not receive a printout of the digital photo.
There is no need to bring a passport photo with you when using the self-registration terminal.
Use costs 6 euros.
Please speak to the clerk afterwards.
The existing self-recording terminal (Speed Capture Terminal) cannot be used for fishing licenses and driver's license applications. Please bring a passport photo (biometric) with you for these services.
