A simple information from the register of residents contains:
- first and last names,
- doctoral degree,
- the current or the last Hamburg address.
- whether deceased
Online information is also possible, but only after prior presentation of ID at a Hamburg location for residents' affairs and registration.

Prerequisites
Specific information about the person sought is required; the person must be clearly identifiable.
Documents required
First and last name of the person you are looking for. Previous address or date of birth, possibly a copy of the enforcement title (with extended information).
Please note
Information is also available online for lawyers or companies. These must be activated after online registration in the gateway portal (see links) at the Harburg District Office - Central Reporting Matters.
Each inquiring person / body must indicate whether the inquiry is used for private or commercial purposes.
In addition, information is only possible if the person / entity making the request declares that the data will not be used for advertising or address trading purposes.
If the person or body making the request requests the data for commercial use, the exact purpose of the request must be stated and the information from the register must then only be used for this purpose.

You can apply for simple registration information (e.g. new address) on site at Hamburg Service, by e-mail, fax or by post. In any case, the requesting person/office will receive the answer by post
Processing time
The written answer to the request can take up to two weeks.
Fees
12 EUR, online only 6 EUR and - if still available - bank notes in the corresponding amount.

If you would like to apply for an identity card, passport or child's passport, you can use an existing self-registration terminal (Speed Capture Terminal) to capture the necessary biometric data (photo, signature, fingerprints). In this case, there is no need to bring a photo. It costs 6 euros to use. A clerk is to be visited afterwards, appointments are recommended
If you would like to apply for an identity card, passport or children's passport, you can use an existing self-recording terminal (Speed Capture Terminal) to capture the necessary biometric data (digital photo, signature, fingerprints).
Please allow a few minutes more time before your appointment to collect your data.
Note: You will not receive a printout of the digital photo.
There is no need to bring a passport photo with you when using the self-registration terminal.

Please speak to the clerk afterwards.
The existing self-recording terminal (Speed Capture Terminal) cannot be used for fishing licenses and driver's license applications. Please bring a passport photo (biometric) with you for these services.
