The Hamburg Service will issue you with a registration certificate upon request. In addition to the basic data, this can also contain other data.
Important notes
Prerequisites
- Your personal appearance is required.
- However, you can be represented by an authorized person who can then apply for the confirmation of registration on your behalf.
- Children of legal age: Parents require a power of attorney from adult family members in order to receive the confirmation of registration.
Documents required
- You need an ID card or passport
- For authorized persons:
- written Application,
- own ID card or passport and
- ID card or passport of the principal (copy possible)
Please note
- Only data from 1987 onwards is available in the Hamburg offices for residents' affairs.
- For data prior to 1987, the registration register of the Central Registration Office is responsible.

- You make an appointment at a Hamburg Service location of your choice
- You or your authorized person must appear in person to apply for the registration certificate.
Processing time
- The processing time is approx. 5 minutes.
- The certificate will be given to you immediately.

- The fee for a certificate is EUR 12.00.

Service description
You can apply for a registration certificate if you need one. This is the case, for example, if you need proof of how long a person has been registered, whether they are still alive or for other information.
You need a registration certificate with information on your marital status to register your marriage at the registry office, or to apply for naturalization at the Office for Migration.
If you need a residence and/or unmarried certificate, it is also a registration certificate, but with additional information.
A registration certificate generally contains the following data:
- family name
- First names under identification of the common first name
- PhD degree
- birth date
- current addresses, marked according to main and secondary residence.

- Order name, stage name
- Date and place of birth and, in the case of birth abroad, also the country,
- Gender,
- to the legal representative
- Family name,

- Information blocks according to § 51 and conditional blocking notices according to § 52,

- legal affiliation to a religious society under public law,

- Marital status, in the case of married people or life partners, also the date and place of the marriage or the establishment of the civil partnership as well as the country in the case of marriage or the establishment of a civil partnership abroad,

If you would like to apply for an identity card, passport or child's passport, you can use an existing self-registration terminal (Speed Capture Terminal) to capture the necessary biometric data (photo, signature, fingerprints). In this case, there is no need to bring a photo. It costs 6 euros to use. A clerk is to be visited afterwards, appointments are recommended
If you would like to apply for an identity card, passport or children's passport, you can use an existing self-recording terminal (Speed Capture Terminal) to capture the necessary biometric data (digital photo, signature, fingerprints).
Please allow a few minutes more time before your appointment to collect your data.
Note: You will not receive a printout of the digital photo.
There is no need to bring a passport photo with you when using the self-registration terminal.
Use costs 6 euros.
Please speak to the clerk afterwards.
The existing self-recording terminal (Speed Capture Terminal) cannot be used for fishing licenses and driver's license applications. Please bring a passport photo (biometric) with you for these services.
