Detailed description

Large-volume transport and heavy transport are vehicles or their loads that exceed the legally prescribed dimensions and weights.



You must apply for a permit and/or an exemption to operate vehicles and trains on public roads if

  • the charge,
  • the dimensions,
  • the axle load or
  • the total weight

exceed the legally permitted limits. You must have the permit and/or special authorization before you start your journey.

Prerequisites

  • Transport by rail or water is not an option for your shipment.
  • Suitable roads are available for your transport.
  • Your load cannot be divided into several transports. Special conditions apply if there are multiple parts.

  • Information on dimensions, axle load and total weight
  • written disclaimer
  • If necessary: special permit according to Section 70 of the Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO), if not only the load deviates from the permissible dimensions, but also a special vehicle is used which does not comply with the Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO) even when unloaded

Procedure

The application can only be submitted online:

  • You submit the application and all required documents via the online portal.
  • The authority may request further information from you.
  • The relevant authority will review your application and decide whether you can be granted permission or approval.
  • After the review is complete, you will receive the permit or approval, or the rejection, along with the fee notice, via the online portal. In some cases, the permit or approval may be granted subject to conditions.

Processing time

2 weeks




The processing time stated only applies without a hearing. Longer processing times are to be expected in the case of static recalculations of bridge structures, complex hearing procedures and requests from other federal states.
