Apply for permission for large-volume and heavy traffic

Prerequisites

• Transport by rail or water is not an option for your shipment.
• Suitable roads are available for your transport.
• Your load cannot be divided into several transports. Special conditions apply if there are multiple parts.

Documents required

• Description of the exact route
• Information on dimensions, axle load and total weight
• written disclaimer
• If necessary: special permit according to Section 70 of the Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO), if not only the load deviates from the permissible dimensions, but also a special vehicle is used which does not comply with the Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO) even when unloaded

Procedure

If you would like to apply online:

• You submit the application and all required documents via the online portal.
• If necessary, the authority may interview you for further information.
• The responsible authority will examine your application and decide whether you can be granted permission or approval.
• After the examination has been completed, you will receive the permit or approval or rejection as well as the fee notice via the online portal. In some cases, the permit or approval may be granted subject to conditions.

If you wish to submit the application in writing:

• You submit your written application together with the necessary documents to the responsible authority
• If necessary, the authority may interview you for further information.
• The responsible authority will examine your application and decide whether you can be granted permission or approval.
• After the examination has been completed, you will receive the permission or approval or rejection as well as the fee notice in writing. In some cases, the permission or approval may be granted subject to conditions.

Processing time

2 weeks




The processing time stated only applies without a hearing. Longer processing times are to be expected in the case of static recalculations of bridge structures, complex hearing procedures and requests from other federal states.
