Please note
Your property or building cannot be protected from heavy rain by a single measure, but only by a sensible combination of protective devices that take the individual location and shape of the property into account.
Some protective measures, such as securing against backflow or upstands, are mandatory for you if you own land or a house. If these are missing, your drainage system does not comply with the Hamburg Wastewater Act or the generally accepted rules of technology. Insurance companies can then rightly limit or completely refuse to pay compensation.
In the event of heavy rain and the resulting flooding, residential building insurance is not sufficient. Damage caused by heavy rain can only be insured with additional natural hazard insurance.
