Report the purchase of a weapon

Prerequisites

• When purchasing a weapon: authorization to purchase (weapon ownership card [if necessary with previous entry] or hunting license)
• When handing over a weapon: the recipient's right to purchase it

Documents required

• Identity card or passport (copy)
• Weapon ownership card (WBK) or hunting license with purchase authorization (previous entry)
• European firearms passport (if registration desired)

Please note

To fill out the application more quickly, you can use the NWR identification numbers (NWR-ID):

• Your PersonalNWR-ID (P- or F-NWR-ID) for your personal information
• the permit NWR-ID for the weapons law permit (E-NWR-ID)
• the weapon or weapon part NWR ID (W or T NWR ID).

You will receive the NWR IDs upon request from the responsible weapons authority.

Deadlines

The acquisition or transfer as well as the processing through conversion or replacement of a significant part must be reported to the responsible district administrative authority within two weeks.

Procedure

You must report the purchase of a weapon that requires a license to the responsible weapons authority. Submit the application along with the required documents.
