Apply for a resident parking permit (Hamburg Service)

As a resident, you can apply for a resident parking permit for your car or motorcycle or a motor vehicle you use permanently.

Important notes

Prerequisites

  • You have your main or secondary residence in a Hamburg residents' park area and actually live there
  • the vehicle is registered to you or you use the vehicle permanently
  • You have reached the age of 16

Documents required

To apply in person and online you will need the following documents:

  • Valid identity card or passport with current registration certificate
  • Registration certificate Part I / vehicle registration)
Additionally in the event of an extension:
  • previous resident parking permit
Additionally, when applying with power of attorney:
  • Original power of attorney
  • Readable color copy of the person granting the power of attorney’s ID
  • Your identity card (of the authorized representative)
Additionally for company cars:
  • upon request: company car confirmation from the employer
Additionally, if the applicant is not the vehicle owner:

Please note

There are the following notes:

  • The resident parking permit must be displayed visibly in the vehicle.
  • A resident parking permit is also required for motorcycles.
  • Resident parking permits cannot be applied for for trailers as they are not motor vehicles.
  • The resident parking permit does not secure a specific parking space, but only allows you to park in a parking space in the resident parking area in which you are registered.
  • A resident parking permit can only be issued for a specific vehicle (license plate is entered into the resident parking permit).
  • The resident parking permit is valid for one year from the application date and must then be extended.
  • An extension is possible from six weeks before the end of the validity.

If you would like to apply for a resident parking permit online:

  • You can apply for the resident parking permit online and then print it out directly at home.
  • When applying online, you can only pay with a credit card or Giropay.
  • Please ensure that you enter your personal information correctly. You can use the spelling on your ID card as a guide. Otherwise technical difficulties may occur.
  • If there is a block on information in the population register, the online application cannot be used for security reasons. Please book an appointment on site.
If you would like to apply for the resident parking permit in person:
  • Make an appointment online or by phone.

Processing time


  • The online application only takes a few minutes. After applying online, you can get the resident parking permit print immediately at home.

  • If you apply in person, the resident parking permit will also be issued immediately as long as you submit all of the required documents.

If you would like to apply for an identity card, passport or children's passport, you can use an existing self-recording terminal (Speed Capture Terminal) to capture the necessary biometric data (digital photo, signature, fingerprints).
Please allow a few minutes more time before your appointment to collect your data.
Note: You will not receive a printout of the digital photo.
There is no need to bring a passport photo with you when using the self-registration terminal.
