Show the start of a waste management activity
If you collect or transport waste or want to trade waste, you must report the activity to the responsible authority.
Important notes
Prerequisites
- You must comply with the obligation to report and obtain permission
- You and your staff must have the necessary specialist knowledge and expertise
- You may have to comply with documentation requirements and registration requirements for hazardous waste
Documents required
- If already issued: your company number under waste law as a collector, transporter, broker or dealer of waste
- In the case of a change notification, if necessary additionally: the process number of your initial notification
- Your business registration
- Extract from the commercial register or association register or cooperative register
- If you are exempt from the requirement to obtain a permit when dealing with hazardous waste: Your waste disposal company certificate or your registration certificate as a certified EMAS company (if your company has a corresponding certification; in the form of a PDF file with a maximum file size of 2 MB)
- Proof of business insurance and environmental liability insurance
- Evidence of the expertise of the people responsible for the performance and supervision of the company
Please note
If you want to transport, collect, trade or broker hazardous waste, a permit is required. Simply reporting the activity is not sufficient here. Under certain conditions you can be exempted from the permit requirement

Procedure
If you want to start working as a collector, transporter, dealer or broker of waste for the first time or if you want to change essential information about your activity, report this to the responsible authority. By email or using the online form, you provide your details and submit the necessary documents. If necessary, the authority will send you a confirmation of your notification and your activity

- and/or limit them in time
- or provided with conditions
- or ban them completely.

Service description
If you are a collector, transporter, dealer or broker of waste, you must notify the relevant authority before starting your activity. If you have already reported your activity and your details have changed significantly, you must report again. The obligation to report applies to both national and cross-border waste shipments.
