Show use of biocides
As an employer/user, you must notify the competent authority of the use of certain particularly dangerous biocidal products.
Important notes
Prerequisites
Biocidal products may only be used by persons who have specialist knowledge of the respective biocidal product. The requirements for expertise depend on the product type, the applications for which the biocidal product is approved and the hazard potential for humans and the environment.
Documents required
- Copy of identification document
- Copy of the certificate(s) of expertise or other qualifications in accordance with Annex I, Section 4.4 (2) of the Hazardous Substances Ordinance - GefStoffV of all competent persons
- If applicable, a copy of the certificate(s) of participation for the last training event(s) attended in accordance with Annex I, Section 4.4 (5) GefStoffV of all competent persons if proof of expertise is older than 6 years.
Please note
For biocidal products that could be used without specialist knowledge according to the old version of the GefStoffV and which require specialist knowledge according to the new version of the GefStoffV, the specialist knowledge requirement according to § 25 GefStoffV only applies from July 28, 2025.
This regulation also applies to uses of pesticides that were previously allowed to be used without specialist knowledge due to the exception in Annex I No. 3.1 of the GefStoffV old version (use in your own company) and now require specialist knowledge according to the new version of the GefStoffV.
Deadlines
The notification must be made no later than 6 weeks before the start of use.

- You fill out the relevant application form completely in writing or electronically and send it to the Occupational Safety and Health Office, including the documents listed in the application.
- If the documents or information required for processing are incomplete, you will be contacted by the processing department.
- As a rule, there is no ad confirmation.
Processing time
The obligation to report is deemed to have been fulfilled if the report is received by the Occupational Safety and Health Office on time. As a rule, there is no confirmation of the advertisement, but further documents can be requested or, if the requirements are not met, the rectification of the defects can be requested.

Service description
As an employer/user, you are obliged to notify the Office for Occupational Safety and Health in writing or electronically no later than six weeks before the start of use
a) if biocidal products are used in the company,
1. which are classified:
a) as acutely toxic category 1, 2 or 3,
b) carcinogenic, germ cell mutagenic or reproductively toxic Cat. 1A or 1B or
c) specifically target organ toxic Cat. 1 SE or RE
2. for the cases covered in accordance with number 1, the use category "trained professional user" has been defined within the framework of the authorisation.
b) when the use of biocidal products is for the first time and the beginning of a renewed use of biocidal products after an interruption of more than one year.
