Please note
Funding is available for green roofs on above-ground floors of residential and non-residential buildings that are carried out voluntarily and are not required by legal regulations. Subsidies can be applied for from a planned net vegetation area of 20 square meters and with a roof pitch of up to 30 degrees. In commercial buildings, garages and carports (new and existing) as well as in existing residential and office buildings and other buildings, the structure thickness through which roots can penetrate must be at least eight centimetres. A minimum thickness of twelve centimeters applies to new residential and office buildings and other buildings.

Service description
The Ministry for the Environment, Climate, Energy and Agriculture (BUKEA) is providing three million euros for a green roof funding program up to 2024. With the Hamburg Green Roof Funding, voluntary measures for intensive or extensive greening in residential and non-residential buildings in Hamburg are funded.
Since 2020, facade greening has also been funded in addition to green roof funding.
The funding is applied for and paid out via the Hamburg Investment and Development Bank.
