If you would like to have access control staff and personnel for surveillance and patrols in the aviation security area certified, you can apply for this at your aviation security authority.

Period of validity 5 years
A recertification interval of five years applies to the recertification of personnel who do not operate X-ray or EDS devices. This affects the access control forces as well as personnel for surveillance and patrols (security personnel).

Procedure
As an airport operator or security service provider, you can apply for the certification of security personnel in writing or online from the aviation security authority responsible for you.
If you want to register the certification of security personnel in writing:
- Airport operators or security service providers report the need for training as security personnel to the responsible aviation security authority.
- Security service providers conduct the training.
- Airport operators or security service providers carry out the training and then submit the training certificate together with the application for certification to the responsible aviation security authority.
- Your responsible aviation security authority checks your application and the training certificates and then issues the corresponding certification certificates.
- The airport operator receives a copy of the certification evidence.
- Creation of the fee notice.
- You call up the online service.
- You select the application type "Certification of security personnel".
- The remaining procedural steps correspond to the written procedure.

Service description
- Aerodrome operators must train security personnel
- The specific training of people who carry out access controls at an airport as well as surveillance and patrols includes the skills stored in the modular training system.
- The trainers carry out a learning success check during or after the training, which is documented in the training certificate. After the training certificate has been submitted, the responsible aviation security authority issues a certificate of certification at the request of the airport operator or the security service provider.
- Certified security personnel must provide evidence of further training/refresher training within 5 years of the start of certification.
- Security personnel training includes theoretical, practical and mission-specific elements.
- The security personnel must demonstrate the necessary experience and qualifications in the following subject areas:
- security procedures,
- Knowledge of the access control systems used at the airport in question
- Knowledge of permits, including airport ID cards and vehicle ID cards, authorizing access to airside areas and ability to recognize these permits
- Knowledge of the procedures for patrolling, stopping people and the circumstances under which
- People should be stopped or reported
- Ability to respond appropriately to detection of prohibited items
- Knowledge of emergency measures, interpersonal skills, especially ability to deal with cultural differences and potentially dangerous passengers.
- Only with proof of certification is it permitted to work as an access control officer or as personnel for surveillance and patrols in the aviation security area.
