If you use aviation security control personnel who need to be re-certified, you can apply for this with your responsible aviation security authority

A recertification interval of three years is provided for persons who operate X-ray or EDS devices.

Procedure
As an airport operator or security service provider, you can apply for the recertification of aviation security staff in writing or online from the aviation security authority responsible for you.
If you want to apply for recertification in writing:
- As an airport operator or security service provider, you first report the need for recertification of your aviation security control staff to the responsible aviation security authority and at the same time submit proof of further training, results of image analysis and an evaluation of the work performance of the persons to be recertified over the last three years.
- The aviation security authority accepts the documents and checks them.
- You can submit missing documents later.
- The responsible aviation security authority will set a date for the image evaluation test in consultation with the security service provider.
- The aviation security authority then carries out the image evaluation test on the persons to be recertified.
- After successfully completing recertification, the recertification certificate is issued.
- The security service provider receives information about the results of the recertification.
- The aerodrome operator receives a copy of the recertification evidence.
- A fee notice is created and sent to the airport operator.
- You call up the online service.
- You select the application type "Recertification of aviation security screening staff".
- The remaining procedural steps correspond to the written procedure.

- As an airport operator or security service provider, you can apply for recertification as an aviation security guard at your responsible aviation security authority.
- Aviation security screening staff must be re-certified within a certain period of time. This is a formal assessment and confirmation from the relevant aviation security authority that the person concerned continues to have the necessary qualifications to perform their assigned duties in an appropriate manner. This ensures that the necessary content is refreshed or that new content can be conveyed sufficiently.
- Airfield operators and security service providers continuously train aviation security control staff after their training.
- The training is based on the following topics:
- Legal bases of aviation security
- Weapons and Explosives Law
- Deepening of control processes
- Evaluation of X-ray images and
- Carrying out controls including processes and responsibilities in a control point, especially when detecting prohibited items.
- The training also takes into account local and mission-specific conditions. Particular emphasis is placed on teaching current procedures in the workplace, finding prohibited items and learning about new threats to air traffic safety.
- If the re-certification is successfully completed, the relevant aviation security screener will receive their proof of re-certification based on the personal data they have provided. You can only deploy your aviation security screening staff in the aviation security area with this proof.
