• You may be assigned a job opportunity if
• this benefit is necessary for your integration into work and no other benefit can be considered for you to introduce you to the labor market and
• You have not been assigned to work opportunities for more than 24 months within the last 5 years.
• The job opportunity must:
• be additional, which means that the work to be carried out would not be carried out to this extent or only at a later date without the funding
• be in the public interest. Your work must therefore serve the general public, not commercial interests or a limited group of people.
• be competitively neutral, i.e. no regular employment relationship may be suppressed or prevented.

• You will receive a job opportunity from your contact person at the job center.
• Your contact person will explain the type, scope and duration of the work to you and tell you who you will be doing the work for. Your interests will also be taken into account.
• You will also be given the details of the job opportunity in writing.

Have you been unemployed for a long time, possibly have health problems and would like to get back to work? As a recipient of unemployment benefit II, you have the opportunity to work in a job that prepares you for employment on the labor market.
The activities to be performed must be additional, non-competitive and in the public interest.
A job opportunity is only considered if your integration into the labor market cannot be achieved with other benefits. One
Employment opportunity usually lasts up to 24 months. It can be extended by up to 12 months.
Job opportunities are carried out by a suitable provider of measures. This can be, for example, an educational institution, a charitable and community-oriented company, but also a non-profit association.
Working hours are determined by the job center on a case-by-case basis. Your contact at the job center will assign you a job opportunity. In addition to your unemployment benefit II, you will receive additional expense allowance, for example for additional travel costs or for work clothes. The amount of the additional expense allowance is based on the actual expenses incurred as a result of participating in the job opportunity. You will only receive the additional expense allowance for hours in which you actually performed work, i.e. not for sick leave, vacation days, weekends and public holidays. You are insured against accidents through your measure provider. If you receive non-cash benefits from your own funds, such as a monthly bus and train ticket, your additional expense allowance will be reduced accordingly. If you receive additional cash benefits from the provider of the measure, these will be taken into account as income and offset against your unemployment benefit II.
Your provider of the measure will be reimbursed for the costs required to carry out the work opportunities. The decision about a job opportunity is at the discretion of your job center. You have no legal entitlement to this funding.
