Operation of systems requiring monitoring in accordance with the Operational Safety Ordinance
As an employer, you can apply for an extension of the test periods for your operational systems that require monitoring.

Prerequisites
The application must state the reasons for an extension of the deadline in accordance with Article 19 (6) BetrSichV. The
The test period applied for must be set in such a way that the test object can be safely operated according to generally accessible sources of knowledge and operational experience in the period between two tests according to the state of the art.
In detail, this must

- the documented quality,
- the results from the exams as well
- the operational influences on the service life
The content of the application and part of the application must also include the planned measures to ensure safety in other ways, the result of the risk assessment according to § 3 BetrSichV for the system and the test certificates for the last tests carried out. The application documents must show how safety is guaranteed in other ways and which additional measures may be required so that the system can be used safely in the period up to the next test. The application must be accompanied by a statement stating that the requested extension of the deadline is possible with the measures described in the application. The statement should preferably be made by persons who are to be commissioned to carry out the recurring inspection in accordance with § 16 BetrSichV. A deadline can only be extended in individual cases for a specific system and at the earliest after the first recurring inspection.
If there is sufficient knowledge about the operational influences on the service life, the extension of the inspection period can also be approved before the first periodic inspection.
Collective extensions, for example for systems of a series or a specific design, cannot be granted.
Documents required
The following content must be specified in the employer's application for the auditors to be changed:
- Information about the system, the place of use and the times of use (design, type of production, quality, operational influences),
- Result of the risk assessment for the system,
- Test certificates for the last tests carried out,
- Information on the measures to ensure safety,
- Statement of an approved inspection body.

Deadlines
Usually after the first recurring test at the earliest. If there is sufficient knowledge about the operational influences on the service life, the extension of the inspection period can also be approved before the first periodic inspection.

Service description
Depending on the individual case, the extension of test periods is possible upon request for the following systems:
elevator systems
(Appendix 2, Section 2) Operational Safety Ordinance,
in particular
- Lift systems within the meaning of Directive 2014/33/EU (Lift Directive) - this includes e.g. B. the classic passenger elevator
- Certain machines within the meaning of Annex IV Number 17 of Directive 2006/42/EC (Machinery Directive) such as lifts for the disabled, construction lifts, facade access systems, transport platforms
- circulation elevators
Systems in potentially explosive areas
(Appendix 2, Section 3) Operational Safety Ordinance, such as e.g.:
- gas filling systems
- storage facilities
- filling points
- gas stations
- in-flight refueling facilities
- other systems in potentially explosive areas
pressure equipment
(Appendix 2, Section 4) Industrial Safety Ordinance, which are defined as
- steam boiler plants
- pressure vessel systems
- filling systems
- Piping systems for certain hazardous media with toxic, flammable or corrosive properties
