There is a recertification interval of three years for the recertification of personnel and a five-year interval for all other persons who do not operate X-ray or EDS devices, here the access control staff and personnel for surveillance and patrols (security personnel).

Procedure

You can apply for certification for aviation security control officers and security personnel in writing or online. In the first step, the training is reported. In the second step, the examination of the training participants is requested. Following the successful completion of the written and practical exam, the responsible aviation security authority issues a certificate of certification.
If you want to apply for the certificate in writing:

• Airport operators or security service providers report the need for training as an aviation security controller to the responsible aviation security authority, submit a list of participants and declare that all participants have successfully completed their background check.
• The aviation security authority receives the information about the training.
• Security service provider conducts the training
• Airport operators and/or security service providers apply to the aviation security authority for admission to the examination for training graduates at the latest when the training begins.
• The security service provider sends the list of names of the examinees together with the training certificates to the responsible aviation security authority no later than seven working days before the examination date. The aviation security authority examines the application.
• The aviation security authority forms an examination board and conducts written and practical examinations for the course participants.
• The practical test should be completed within two weeks after the theoretical part of the test.
• After successful completion of the examination, the certification evidence is issued and handed over.
• The aerodrome operator receives a copy of the certification evidence.
• A fee notice is created and sent to the airport operator.

If you would like to have proof of certification issued for your aviation security controller or security personnel, you can apply for this at your aviation security authority. The aviation security authority provides

• for aviation security guards after passing the exam and
• issue proof of certification for the security personnel after successfully completing the training. The relevant training certificate contains documentation of the learning success control carried out by the trainer, which enables the responsible aviation security authority to issue a certificate of certification.
• The proof of certification is also valid in the area of responsibility of other aviation security authorities.
• The competent aviation security authority can revoke and confiscate a certificate of certification if serious doubts arise about the qualification.
• As an airport operator, you may only deploy persons as aviation security control staff or as security personnel who have proof of certification for the work you are to carry out.
