Submit an application for recertification of trainers in the field of aviation security
If you would like to have an approved instructor in aviation security recertified, you can apply to your aviation security authority via the airport operator.

Before applying for recertification: Make sure that you submit the background check in good time, as it is a prerequisite for recertification.
Submit your application for an extension at least two months before the end of the period of validity.

Procedure
If you, as an airport operator or security service provider, would like to recertify an approved instructor, you can apply for this informally and in writing to your responsible aviation security authority:
- First, you report the need for recertification of the trainer to the responsible aviation security authority and at the same time submit the evidence of the necessary further training instructions.
- The aviation security authority accepts the documents and checks their content.
- If necessary, questions will be sent to you by e-mail.
- Before recertification, the responsible aviation security authority conducts a teaching test with the trainer.
- After successfully completing the recertification, the recertification certificate is issued.
- The recertification certificate and notification are sent by post to the person to be recertified (the trainer).
- The airport operator will receive a copy of the certificate and a notification by post.
- The notice of charges is created and sent to the airport operator by post.

Service description
- If you would like to have an approved instructor in aviation security recertified, you can apply to your aviation security authority via the airport operator.
- From the date of certification, trainers must complete at least four hours of further training on aviation security and the latest security-related developments every year and provide evidence to the responsible aviation security authority without delay.
- If the competent aviation security authority finds deficiencies in the trainers, the further training instruction can be extended by up to 12 hours.
- The advanced training instruction is carried out by airport operators. The relevant aviation security authority is also involved.
- You must apply for recertification of your trainer for at least the following groups of people:
- Aviation security assistant
- aviation security forces
- Screeners of airline mail or material, in-flight supplies and airport deliveries
- Vehicle control forces
- Access control forces as well as personnel for surveillance and patrols
- Other security personnel for airline mail or material, in-flight supplies and airport deliveries
- supervisory staff
- security officer.
- You can also apply for recertification of your trainer for the following groups of people:
- persons other than passengers who require unescorted access to security restricted areas
- Individuals regarding general security awareness.
- As a trainer, you can train several groups of people.
- If the responsible aviation security authority does not have proof of the advanced training within 13 months of certification and again after 25 months at the latest, the aviation security authority can revoke the certification.
