A recertification interval of three years is provided for persons who operate X-ray or EDS devices.

Procedure

As an airport operator or security service provider, you can apply for the certification of aviation security control staff in writing or online from the aviation security authority responsible for you.
If you want to apply for certification in writing:

• Airport operators or security service providers report the need for training as an aviation security control officer to the responsible aviation security authority and at the same time submit a list of participants. In addition, the existence of a valid background check according to the Aviation Security Act must be confirmed before the start of the training.
• The aviation security authority receives the information about the training and checks the list of participants and the associated background checks.
• The security service provider carries out the training and submits a corresponding training certificate to the responsible aviation security authority.
• The security service provider applies through the airport operator for the examination for the training graduates to the responsible aviation security authority.
• The security service provider sends the list of names of the examinees together with the training certificates to the responsible aviation security authority no later than seven working days before the examination date. The aviation security authority examines the application.
• The aviation security authority forms an examination board and conducts the written and practical examination for the course participants.
• The practical test should be completed within two weeks after the theoretical part of the test.
• A practical part of the test consists of the evaluation of X-ray images, a further practical part consists of the examination of control procedures for personal checks, vehicle checks and goods checks.
• After successful completion of the examination, the certification evidence is issued and handed over. The airport operator receives a copy of the certification evidence.
• A fee notice is created and sent to the airport operator.

• The activity-specific training of persons who are responsible for the control of persons and objects carried includes the competencies stored in the modular training system.
• After successfully completing the training, the responsible aviation security authority will conduct the written and practical exam.
