If you want to dispose of radioactive residues or waste in the fields of medicine, research and trade, you need a permit for the delivery of radioactive waste for storage in the state collection point.

Please note
If the radioactive waste delivered does not meet the acceptance conditions of the state collection point and therefore cannot be accepted, the state collection point will inform the applicant and, if possible, provide information about other disposal methods.

Procedure
- Complete the application form in question and send it to the Office for Occupational Safety and Health - Department for Radiation Protection.
- The competent authority checks whether the requirements for acceptance of the radioactive waste have been met.
- If the documents or information required for processing are incomplete, you will be contacted by the administrative department.
- If the examination of the documents shows that they are complete and that the requirements for acceptance according to these usage regulations are met, you and the state collection center will be informed in writing that the radioactive waste may be delivered.
- You can then contact the state collection point to coordinate the delivery date and details.
- If the examination of the documents shows that they are incomplete or that the requirements for acceptance are not met, you will be asked by the clerk to supplement the documents or to bring the waste into a condition that corresponds to these usage regulations.
- The decision will be sent to you by e-mail or by post.
- The notice of fees will usually be sent to you later.

Processing usually takes 2 to 4 weeks
Fees
The costs are based on the current Hamburg environmental fee schedule. In addition, a final storage fee must be paid. Both are calculated according to the volume of the waste per liter. The repository fee is recalculated annually.
