Apply for grants for renewable heat.
The Hamburg Investment and Development Bank (IFB Hamburg) grants grants for measures that increase the share of renewable energies in the heat supply of buildings.
Important notes
Prerequisites
- Eligible to apply are property owners in Hamburg or persons entitled to dispose of property in rem, commercial companies and other organizations (e.g. clubs, foundations and non-profit organizations including churches) in Hamburg, as well as companies that provide (energy) services for third parties in Hamburg as part of a contracting agreement provide.
- You must have received the grant approval before the start of the project. Under certain conditions, for example if the project could not be foreseen in good time and it is not possible to postpone it for objective reasons, the IFB can in individual cases allow the measure to start prematurely (before receipt of the permit) without damaging the funding.
- After receiving the approval, you can start your project. A project is considered to have started when you have concluded delivery and service contracts.
- In addition, technical requirements apply, which can be found within the funding program.
Documents required
The following documents are required for the digital application:
- Proof of legitimation of the builder(s) (e.g. identity card)
- Proof of ownership (usually the current extract from the land register)
- Official site plan (corridor map)

- Project description (except for single-family house / two-family house)
- For new construction projects: Evidence of the transmission heat loss of the building envelope
- Self-declaration of the SME definition (only for companies, freelancers and self-employed persons as applicants)
- Documentation of the solar simulation
- Calculation of the annual performance factor
- Hydraulic standard circuit of the "Quality Management Wood Heating Plants" series of publications

To do this, submit the application on the appropriate form, which can be downloaded from https://www.ifbhh.de/foerderprogramm/erneuerbare-waerme , and submit it together with all the necessary documents.
In addition to submitting by post, you can also submit your documents by email to energie@ifbhh.de . The application form signed by all owners is also required in the original.

Deadlines
The deadline refers to the completion of the application documents by the applicant, otherwise the application can be rejected.
Applications that are incomplete or have other deficiencies will only be accepted subject to supplementation and revision. If they are not submitted to IFB Hamburg in full and without defects within three months, they can be rejected.
The approval period for the implementation of the measure begins with the issuance of the decision and is then 24 months.

- You can submit your application for funding via the e-application portal of the Hamburg Investment and Development Bank.
- For electronic applications for this funding program, you have to register once and can then log in with your password.
- Submit the application online via the portal.
- After a successful examination you will receive a permit.
- You can only start with your project and commission trades after you have received the permit.
You can still apply for funding by post. To do this, submit the application on the appropriate form and submit it together with all the necessary documents.

The processing time depends on the development of demand from this funding program and on the completeness of the submitted documents.

Service description
The promotion of renewable energies for the heat supply of buildings serves the goal of permanently reducing carbon dioxide emissions in Hamburg. This means that the building that is to be supplied with eligible renewable heat must be in Hamburg.
Various measures are funded with this funding program:
- Solar thermal from 20m²
- bioenergy plants
- heat pumps
- Geothermal energy, PVT and heat from waste water
- heat distribution networks
- heat accumulator
- Multiple use of areas, including the use of renewable heat
