Asylum Seekers Benefits Act basic benefits

According to the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act, you can apply for benefits to secure your livelihood.

Since January 1, 2023, the responsibility for processing applications under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act (AsylbLG) has been with the Authority for Internal Affairs and Sport (BIS) in the Office for Migration (Amt M; Unit M43) and no longer with the district offices for basic security.

Prerequisites

Benefits are given to foreigners who

  • have a residence permit,
  • have a residence permit without a work permit in Germany because of the war in their home country,
  • have a Duldung or
  • whose asylum procedure has not been completed.

  • Identification documents (residence permit, toleration or residence permit or settlement permit)
