Child benefit is paid for all children up to the age of 18 if they
- have a place of residence in Germany
- or usually stay here.
- it is in vocational training
- or completed a federal voluntary service
- or if there is no job or apprenticeship position (under certain conditions).
Important notes
Prerequisites
Child benefit is only paid to parents who live or habitually stay in Germany. If parents live abroad, you must be liable for income tax in Germany.
