Detailed description

If you move onto an inland vessel that is registered in a domestic ship register, you must register at the location of the ship's home port.



If you are working on a seagoing vessel entitled to fly the German flag, the shipowner will register you at the start of your employment, contract, or training. You must provide the shipowner with the necessary information for this purpose.



You are not required to register if you are resident in Germany.

  • The inland vessel you are registering on must be registered in a domestic ship register.
  • The seagoing vessel is entitled to fly the German flag.

  • Confirmation from the landlord
  • ID card or passport

Please note

  • For inland vessels, the regulations regarding the general reporting obligation apply.
  • Registration is only possible at the Hamburg Service Hamburg-City location.

Deadlines

You must register with the registration office within two weeks of moving.

Procedure

  • You arrange an appointment with the relevant authority.
  • They must appear in person or be represented by an authorized representative.
  • You fill out the registration form and sign it (except in the case of an automated registration system).
  • They submit all the required documents.
  • Finally, you will receive an official registration confirmation from the registration office.
