Special reporting obligation for barges and seafarers

Prerequisites

• The inland waterway vessel on which you register must be registered for a domestic ship register.
• The seagoing vessel registered by the shipowner must be entitled to fly the federal flag.

Documents required

• Confirmation from the landlord
• ID card or passport

Please note

• For inland vessels, the regulations on the general obligation to report apply.
• Registration is only possible in the customer center in Hamburg-Mitte.

Deadlines

You must register with the registration office within two weeks of moving in. Late registrations can be punished with a fine.

Procedure

• You make an appointment at the customer center - department for population data of the Hamburg-Mitte district office
• You appear in person at the customer center - department for resident data of the Hamburg-Mitte district office or be represented by a person with power of attorney.
• You fill out the registration form and sign it (except in the case of an automated registration form).
• You submit all the required documents.
• Finally, you will receive an official confirmation of registration from the registration office.

Processing time

Registration takes about 12 minutes.

Fees
