To order a green bio bin, please contact your landlord. Property owners please contact the Hamburg city cleaning department. Among other things, your customer number is required for this.

Please note that since October 18, 2017, the incineration of garden waste in private and allotment gardens, as well as public facilities, is no longer permitted.

The disposal of garden waste from private households is the task of the districts and urban districts. In the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the Hamburg city cleaning department is responsible for this.
You can dispose of smaller amounts of garden waste in the green bio bin. Garden waste that no longer fits in the organic waste bin can be delivered to any of the Hamburg city cleaning department's recycling yards. Of course, you can also compost your garden and kitchen waste yourself in your garden.
In addition, from September to mid-December leaf bags can be purchased from the Hamburg city cleaning department. The leaf bags have a capacity of 100 liters and are available at all recycling centers, at the mobile collection of problematic substances and in retail.

The separate collection and later recycling of garden waste has several advantages for the environment:

• It reduces the amount of residual waste and simplifies the treatment of residual waste.
• The green bio bin saves expensive waste fees
• Separate collection simplifies the high-quality recycling of garden waste and enables the humus components and nutrients contained in them to be used.
