Detailed description

A school attendance certificate is an official document that confirms that and when you attended a particular school.



It usually includes the period of school attendance and, if applicable, the type of school or class attended.


It serves as official proof for authorities, insurance companies or other institutions.



You can apply for a certificate of your school attendance. You will need this, for example, for pension insurance, child benefit, educational grants, or other official purposes.

Prerequisites

They attended a school in Hamburg.

Documents required

Please provide the following information in your application:

  • Names and first names and, if applicable, the birth name,
  • Your contact details,
  • Name and address of the school or schools attended,
  • the last year you attended school

Please note

If you were born after 1945, you will receive your school attendance certificate from the school you attended.



If the school you previously attended no longer exists, you can contact the Hamburg School Information Centre (SIZ) to find out who to contact.

Deadlines

School leaving certificates are kept for 55 years.

Procedure

  • You can submit your request to the relevant authority by phone or email.
  • They submit all necessary documents.
  • The relevant authority will review your request.
  • You will receive the school attendance certificate.

Processing can take up to several weeks.
