In principle, only one valid passport is issued per person.
If proof of a legitimate interest is provided, however, additional passports that are valid at the same time can be issued.
Important notes
Prerequisites
- People who travel a lot for work and whose passport often has to be handed in to the embassy of the destination country for a longer period of time in order to be able to issue a visa.
- People who travel to countries that do not accept visas from other countries (e.g. travelers to Israel if the passport already contains visas from Arab countries).
Documents required
- Current passport photo, which must meet the photo requirements for electronic ID cards.
The requirements for the passport photo can be found in the photo sample table (see the link “Federal Ministry of the Interior and Homeland - Photo sample table”, at the bottom of this page under “Forms, Service & Links”).
A photo booth (speed capture terminal) is available. The fee for a photo on site is EUR 6.00. You will not receive a printout. Please note that the existing photo booth is not suitable for taking passport photos of infants and small children. - ID card or passport
- Proof of the need for a second passport, e.g. B. Certificate from the employer about frequent trips abroad or travel confirmation for trips to certain countries.

Personal application required. The application will be forwarded to Bundesdruckerei for further processing.
Processing time
Application takes about 15 minutes. Processing 4-6 weeks.
Fees
Up to the age of 24 EUR 37.50, later EUR 60 (valid for 6 years).
