State Sports Office

The State Sports Office

• coordinates the implementation of the measures of the Decade Strategy Sport and specifies them in dialogue with the actors in sport, creates and secures the framework conditions for organized and non-organized sport in Hamburg
• has as its central task the state promotion of sport in the areas of popular and competitive sport and sporting events, as well as the technical supervision in the area of sports facilities and represents the city-wide interests of sport development in the Free and Hanseatic State of Hamburg
• acts as a central point of contact for all partners in sport and acts as a coordinator of sport between the authorities
• is responsible for the acquisition, advertising, support and internal coordination of sporting events
• bundles the city's sports marketing activities and manages the Sport brand
• inspires Hamburg
• represents the interests of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg in sport in regional, national and international bodies and advises and supports the management of the authorities in sport-related matters.

In early 2012, the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg decided on a model for the development of sport in Hamburg up to 2021 with the Decade Strategy on Sport.

The State Sports Office is the central point of contact for coordinating the implementation.
