Vehicles that are not mass-produced require an individual operating permit so that they can be approved for road traffic. This also applies to vehicles from abroad. With the individual operating permit it is established that the vehicle complies with the building and operating regulations.
Important notes
Documents required
The scope of the documents for applying for an exemption differs from case to case, but at least the following are required:
- an expert opinion by an officially recognized expert for motor vehicle traffic according to § 13 EG-FGV
- a valid identity card or passport with confirmation of registration
- an extract from the commercial register for companies
- if necessary, a power of attorney
- any reserved identifier
- an informal application
Please note
A decision is only made on a case-by-case basis and a decision can only be made about granting the individual operating permit after checking the complete documents.
Procedure & Fees
Fees
39.80 EUR, provided that no further exemptions are required. The basis for this is the fee schedule for measures in road traffic (GebOSt).

Please use the entrance at Süderstraße 142. Sign embossers can be found on site. QR codes for appointment confirmations can be scanned as long as the display of your mobile device is not cracked or otherwise damaged.
