Prerequisites
A self-constructed vehicle or the import of a vehicle that has never been homologated in the European Economic Area (EEA) is to be registered for use on public roads in Germany. The applicant is authorized to use the vehicle or has been commissioned by the person authorized to do so.
Documents required
The scope of the documents required to apply for an exemption varies from case to case, but at least the following are required:
- a report from an officially recognised expert for motor vehicle traffic in accordance with Section 13 EG-FGV
- a valid identity card or passport with confirmation of registration
- a commercial register extract for companies
- a power of attorney when applying in power of attorney
- as required: reserved license plate
- an informal application
