Vehicle clearance certificate, replacement operating permit

Prerequisites

The location of the vehicle is Hamburg. If the vehicle was purchased outside of Hamburg, then the clearance certificate must be applied for from the local licensing authority

Documents required

• Proof of ownership (invoice or sales contract)
• written, informal declaration of loss

Please note

If the manufacturer no longer exists, then an expert report in accordance with Section 21 of the Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (building council report) is required. With this report, the operating permit is issued by the State Transport Authority.

An appointment with the Landesbetrieb Verkehr is required for processing.

Appointment booking

1. Visit the website for booking an appointment (see link below) and select the service Loss of vehicle documents or theft of vehicle documents under the service group Admission, private customers.
2. Use the location selection to display appointments at a specific location.
3. After selecting the location, use the calendar displayed to select a free appointment (date and time).
4. Now enter your name and your e-mail address for booking.
5. You will receive an email. Please confirm the appointment.

Please bring the appointment confirmation that you will receive with you to the appointment.
