Hamburger SV itself officially names September 29, 1887 as its founding date. However, the actual establishment of the HSV did not take place until June 2, 1919, 9 years after the establishment of the FC St. Pauli. On this day the three clubs SC Germania von 1887, Hamburger FC 1888 (which was called Hamburger SV 1888 from February 26, 1914) and FC Falke 1906 from Eppendorf merged.
