Prerequisites
- They live and reside in Germany.
- They are in need of help and
- temporarily fully incapacitated for work or
- receive an old-age pension, but have not yet reached the age limit for the standard old-age pension.
You are in need of assistance if you cannot fully cover your living expenses from your own means and efforts.
- You will not receive:
- Basic income support for job seekers,
- Basic income support for the elderly and those with reduced earning capacity or
- Basic services for asylum seekers.
Documents required
- valid identity card or passport, if applicable, proof of residence
- Proof of a temporary total incapacity for work in the form of a pension statement or medical certificates.
- Proof of income, for example, for pension, sick pay, child benefit, maintenance payments or maintenance advances.
- Proof of assets, for example savings balances
- Proof of expenses and rental costs, especially advance payments and statements for utilities and heating costs.
Please note
In a particularly difficult situation, you can receive a loan if you are not currently receiving benefits under the German Social Code, Book XII (SGB XII).
If you are entitled to benefits under the German Social Code Book II (citizen's allowance), please contact the job center.
