Prerequisites
- Contact the veterinary department early to clarify the necessary vaccinations, examinations and other health requirements for your animal.
- Please make an appointment with the Veterinary Department to present your animal in person, as most health certificates require an on-site examination.
- Your pet must have proof of all required vaccinations and examinations. The specific requirements depend on the animal species, destination, mode of transport, and the event itself. If necessary, check with the relevant consulates at your destination and, if flying, with the airline regarding transport and import regulations.
- Depending on the regulations, deadlines, specific examination periods or quarantine conditions may have to be observed.
Documents required
- Fully completed pet passport or vaccination certificate
- Any current examination results of the animal that may be required for your travel destination
- If required: additional veterinary examination and treatment certificates.
- Certificate forms for the destination country – If specific forms are required for your destination country, you should obtain templates in advance from embassies, consulates, or online and submit them to the veterinary departments for certification. Also, inquire well in advance at embassies, consulates, or online whether any special examinations or vaccinations are required for your destination country.
Please note
The requirements for the health certificate depend on the individual case. Please clarify these with the veterinary department well in advance.
Deadlines
Please note that at least five working days are required to schedule an appointment with the relevant authority for the issuance of a certificate. Compliance with the health requirements for certification in the country of origin can involve very different examinations, deadlines, and quarantine conditions, depending on the animal species and country of origin.
