Renew driver's license, driver card
The driver card is issued for the digital control device for monitoring driving and rest times.
Since the driver card is only issued for a limited period of 5 years, it must be re-applied for in good time. A new driver card will then be issued.

- The main residence under registration law is Hamburg.
Documents required
- Identity card or passport with last registration certificate, if necessary a residence permit
- biometric passport photos 35 X 45 mm
- EU driving license with cards
- old driver card

Please note
The driver card is usually issued for 5 years. An application for renewal (extension) can be submitted at the earliest 4 weeks before the expiry date.
Postal application
The driver card can also be requested by post from the LBV. Once the application form and all the necessary documents have been submitted to the LBV, your driver card will then be sent to you by post. A visit to the LBV is not necessary in this case.
For an application on site, please book an appointment. The application by an authorized person is not possible.
Appointment booking
1. Visit the website for booking appointments (see link below) and select the driver card service under the driver's license service group.
2. Use location selection to display appointments at a specific location
3. Use the date picker to find the next available date regardless of your location.
4. Select a free appointment (date and time) in the calendar displayed
5. Enter your name and email address for the booking.
6. You will receive an email. Please confirm the appointment.
Please bring the appointment confirmation that you will receive with you to the appointment.

41.00 EUR according to the road fees (GebOSt). After production, the driver card will be sent to your home by registered mail.
