Procedure

• Apply for file information from the authority responsible for your request. If the authority is not responsible, they will identify the relevant authority and advise you.
• If possible, submit the request for file information in writing. You can also submit the application electronically or verbally. Describe the information you want as precisely as possible.
• The responsible authority will examine your application.
• If fees apply, you will receive a fee notice.
• As soon as you have paid the fees, the authority will provide you with the requested information and documents. Due to legal restrictions, you may not be able to receive all information.

Processing time

As a rule, you will receive the information you require within one month. If your request for information is more complex, the deadline can be extended by another month.

Fees

There are usually fees for responding to requests for information. The amount of the fees is based on the fee schedule for information in accordance with the Hamburg Transparency Act (HmbTGGebO). Simple information is free of charge.
