Please note
You may keep your license plate number. The address change will only be recorded in your vehicle registration documents (registration certificate part I). Re-licensing is voluntary.
If you do not wish to make use of the option to keep your license plate, you still have the option of applying for a new license plate.
If multiple vehicles are affected, the applications can also be submitted at the commercial customer counter at the locations. Prior contact via the email address kfz-zulassung@lbv.hamburg.de is required to coordinate further action.
If your vehicle has a particulate matter sticker, it may become invalid due to a change in license plate number. If you intend to drive in low-emission zones and do not have an exemption permit, you should apply for a new particulate matter sticker when you re-register your vehicle.
Deadlines
The re-registration of your vehicle must be done immediately.
