The Hamburg home visit service is a free consultation service for older people and anyone who wants to learn more about aging early on. They receive personal support and guidance on all aspects of life in old age.

Detailed description

The Hamburg home visit is a free advisory service for older people in Hamburg.



You will receive a letter on your 80th birthday with an offer for a home visit. Participation is voluntary. You can accept, reschedule, or decline the appointment. Alternatively, you can contact us yourself to arrange an appointment.



During a home visit, trained volunteers will advise you on all aspects of aging. You will receive information and support on various topics. If needed, the volunteers can connect you with suitable services and contact points.



The home visit usually takes place only once. It can be conducted at your home or at the district office. You are welcome to bring a trusted person with you to the appointment. You decide at any time which topics you wish to discuss and can end the appointment at any time.



Possible topics include, for example:

  • Health, nutrition and exercise
  • Social contacts and leisure activities
  • Opportunities for voluntary engagement
  • Housing for the elderly and support in everyday life
  • Care and support services

The offer is aimed at older people who would like to find out early about support and options for shaping their lives in old age.

    • A cancellation is possible even at short notice, even if the visitor is already at your door.
    • You can cancel the appointment at any time and without giving a reason, even if the conversation has already started.
  • The home visit serves for general information and orientation. It is not an emergency or visiting service and does not replace any other form of care.Individual advice is provided by institutions such as care support centers.
