Driver's license, professional driver qualification

Prerequisites

The application can only be made by people who have their main residence in Hamburg.

Documents required

• a valid identity card or passport with a current registration certificate
• the EU driving license
• a biometric passport photo 35 x 45 millimeters
• proof of the basic qualification and proof of the advanced training modules
• the appointment confirmation

Please note

Only the driving license offices of the Landesbetrieb Verkehr (LBV) Mitte and Nord are responsible for the application.

When is the qualification required?
The basic qualification must be proven by all vehicle drivers who

• obtained their D-class driving license after September 9, 2008.
• obtained their C-class driving license after September 9, 2009.
• are citizens of a member state of the EU or the European Economic Community (EEC) or work for a company based in the EU or the EEC and carry out commercial journeys (also in company traffic or auxiliary transport activities) on public roads with the following vehicles:
• Vehicles with a permissible total weight of more than 3.5 tons in goods or works transport (C classes).
• Vehicles with more than eight passenger seats in passenger transport (D classes).

appointment booking
Appointments are booked via the LBV. Proceed as follows:
1. Visit the website for booking appointments (see link below) and select the service Application for Driver Qualification Certificate under the service group Driver's License.
2. Use the location selection to display appointments at a specific location.
3. After choosing the location, use the calendar displayed to choose a free appointment (date and time).
4. Now enter your name and e-mail address for booking.
5. You will receive an email. Please confirm the appointment.

Please be sure to bring the appointment confirmation that you will receive afterwards with you to the appointment.

Deadline extensions


If your key number 95 expires between September 1st, 2020 and June 30th, 2021, the expiry period will automatically be extended by 10 months.


Deadlines that have already been extended once without further training and expire between September 1st, 2020 and June 30th, 2021 are considered to be extended by a further 6 months or until July 1st, 2021, whichever is the later.


These regulations only apply to professional drivers who are already qualified and therefore not to the basic qualification

Processing time

The production time is around three to four weeks. Consignments are usually sent directly by Bundesdruckerei

Fees

The fee for producing the driver qualification certificate is EUR 32.50. The FQN is usually sent directly by Bundesdruckerei. An additional EUR 3.50 is charged for this. Further costs depend on the type of application and can only be determined when the application is submitted. The basis for the fee level is the fee schedule for measures in road traffic (GebOSt).
