Prerequisites

Prerequisite for registration is information on the company and the activity in the application form.

Documents required

No other documents are required for registration apart from the information in the application form.

Deadlines

The application must be submitted and approved before the start of the activity.

Procedure

• You send the application form to the specified address (letter or email)
• Authority for Justice and Consumer Protection processes your application
• You will receive a notification by post from the authority for justice and consumer protection with notification of your application.
• If the decision is positive, you can then start producing, manufacturing, processing, storing, transporting or selling feedstuffs at the relevant business premises.

Processing time

Processing usually takes 2 to 4 weeks.

Fees

Between €50 and €550, depending on the effort.

With a value of approx. 17.68 billion euros (2012), animal feed is the most important agricultural resource in Germany. The consumption of animal feed is around 79.4 million tons per year (grain units, 2011/12).

The feed companies are particularly responsible for avoiding risks to human and animal health and the environment through careful and quality-oriented production and use of feed. Feed safety is the responsibility of the operator.

Regular, risk-oriented controls of the official feed control take place at all stages of production, processing and distribution of feed. These aim to ensure that the provisions of feed law are complied with by the feed companies.
