Information according to the Transparency Act, State Transport Authority (LBV)

Since October 6, 2012, the Hamburg Transparency Act, which replaces the Hamburg Freedom of Information Act, grants everyone free access to official information.

Detailed description

Under the Hamburg Transparency Act, you can request access to the files of the responsible authority under certain conditions. However, certain information may not be released by the authority. Address your request for information to the authority that is required to provide information on your matter.

The request for information should be made in writing. However, an electronic or oral request is permitted. The information requested should be described as precisely as possible.

You can reach the Hamburg Telephone Service by calling 040/42828 0, who will put you in touch with the contact person responsible for you in the State Transport Authority.

Procedure

  • If possible, submit your request for information about your files in writing. You can also submit the request electronically or verbally. Be as precise as possible about the information you require.
  • The LBV will review your application.
  • If fees are incurred, you will receive a fee notice.
  • Once you have paid the fees, the authority will provide you with the information and documents you request. Due to legal restrictions, you may not be able to receive all the information

Processing time

As a rule, you will receive the information you requested within one month. If your request for information is more complex, the deadline can be extended by a further month.

The amount of the fees is based on the fee schedule for information under the Hamburg Transparency Act (HmbTGGebO).
