Benefits for refugees according to the Victim Compensation Act OEG

  •
If you suffer damage to your health in Germany as a result of an intentional, unlawful physical attack, for example physical injury, you can apply for benefits with regard to this damage to your health.

Detailed description

If you suffer health damage in Germany as a result of an intentional, unlawful physical attack, for example bodily harm, you can apply for benefits in respect of this health damage.

Benefits for medical and health treatment, welfare benefits, pensions and other cash benefits are considered.

These services are based on the degree of consequences of your health impairment (degree of consequences of the impairment) and on your needs.

Financial losses or immaterial damages will not be compensated. This also applies to damages caused by yourself (e.g. if you started a fight).

You may be denied benefits if you, as the injured party, do not contribute to the investigation, for example if you do not file a report.

For foreigners, the extent of the benefits depends on the length of their legal stay. Your stay is also considered legal if your deportation is suspended (“tolerated stay”). However, people who are staying in Germany illegally are not entitled to benefits.
